The governor of Akwa Ibom State has identified support and encouragement as necessary ingredients that motivate a leader to serve better.
Pastor Umo Eno, who stated this, Saturday, during the inauguration of Road 2, New Yenagoa City, in Bayelsa State, was of the opinion that when a leader is supported and encouraged, he gets inspired to do more, otherwise, he could relent in his efforts.
Eno, who was the special guest of honour at the event, said looking at the difficult terrain of Bayelsa State, the nature of the road, before and after construction, it could only take a daring leader to venture into such a project, describing Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, as a pragmatic leader with a daring and committed spirit for transformation.
He congratulated Diri for his development strides within one year in his second term in office, and thanked him for the invitation extended to him to inaugurate the project, and possibly learn how to create new cities and make progress in leadership.
Eno promised to reciprocate the honour done him by Diri by equally inviting him to inaugurate some projects during his second anniversary in May 2025.
He observed that PDP governors, especially in the South South were recording meaningful progress as evident in Bayelsa State, and solicited continued support from the party and the entire Bayelsans to their governor to enable him to do more.
The Akwa Ibom governor expressed hope that other roads and several projects will be inaugurated in Bayelsa State as they partner within the South South to keep opening the corridor that will aid the integration of the region in trade, commerce and development.
The host governor, Diri, said the dual carriageway measures 2.1km with 7.3 meters width on either side and constructed to international standard.
According to him, the road, unlike in the past, was built to the highest standards as obtained in Akwa Ibom State, and that Bayelsa was desirous of replicating Akwa Ibom roads in the State, as Akwa Ibom has some of the best roads in Nigeria.
Diri appreciated his special guest for accepting to inaugurate the road, and assured Eno of more collaborative efforts for the development of the South South region.
