The Akwa Ibom governor has called for unity among the various components of the federation to get Nigeria back on track.
Pastor Umo Eno made the call, Saturday, at the wedding ceremony between Blessing Eyakenyi and her Ekiti-born heartthrob, Olumuyiwa Adewumi, which took place at the International Worship Center, Uyo, congratulating the couple on their nuptials and charged them to take responsibility for maintaining a healthy marriage relationship, devoid of unnecessary interference.
Eno notedthat Akwa Ibom people were delighted over the relationship between the two distant states and the couple’s commitment to cherish each other and enjoined relatives and friends to steer clear of the marriage and allow them develop mastery of their peculiar challenges.
“For the family of Eyakenyi and Adewumi, we celebrate with you. We have given you our treasure just as you have also released your treasure to us. Our job now is to allow both of them to grow together, make their errors, and learn.
“On the issue of marriage, there is no appointment of special assistant. Please allow them to walk by themselves. Let them learn and grow together. Marriage is best when you face your problems headlong. Don’t let people tell you what to do. Those mistakes are part of the learning process. Run your homes the way you want it. No two homes are the same,” the governor urged.
He advocated for unity and support for the incumbent government of the federation led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to chart a course towards giving renewed hope to the economy and other sectors, as the task of managing the affairs of Nigeria is enormous, hence the need for support and prayers.
“We need to continue the cooperation, work together to get our country back. We must support our President and all of the people working with him, and consistently pray for them. That is what God asked us to do, to pray for our leaders, than to sit down and criticize from our parlour.
“To rule a country as diverse as Nigeria, it takes the grace of God. So, we owe the President our prayers, we owe him our ideas and contributions”.
The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented at the event by the national coordinator and chief executive officer of the African Union Development Agency and New Partnership for Africa’s Development, AUDA-NEPAD, Princess Gloria Akobundu, congratulated the couple and expressed hope that the Ekiti family, in the long run, will be glad to have taken a wife from Akwa Ibom State, especially the Eyakenyi family.
She prayed for God’s guidance for the family and called on all at the event to join in prayers for continuous peace and unity in Nigeria, and for the success of the President Tinubu-led federal government.
The deputy governor and mother of the bride, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, expressed her family’s gratitude to God for the joyous event, and specially thanked the governor and wife, Patience, former governor Udom Emmanuel and wife, Martha, deputy governors, Senators from the various parts of the nation and other guests for honouring the couple and gracing the event.
In his homily on the theme, “God’s expectations from partners in marriage,” with text taken from Ephesians 5:22-33, the senior pastor of Insight Bible Church, Pastor Sylvanus Ukafia, said God’s standards of the husband loving the wife and wife submitting to the husband, with each giving due honour to each other remains sacrosanct.
Ukafia enjoined the couple to put God first in all their dealings and watch things fall in place for them.
