Governor Umo Eno has called for sustained prayers for peace, unity and continued progress in the state by Akwa Ibom people.
Eno, who made the call over the weekend, during the January edition of Government House monthly prayer service, which had as its theme, “Limitless Possibilities with God”, drawn from Matthew 19:26, sued for continued prayers for the peace the State was currently enjoying and for the success of ongoing and planned development initiatives.
He said his administration has 60 priority projects underway, in addition to the over 1,300 kilometers of roads either completed or currently ongoing and spreading across the State.
Eno also enjoined leaders, clergy and citizens to discharge their civic responsibilities with sincerity, restraint and patriotism, while stressing the need for the clergy to not only pray but visit project sites to intercede for their timely and successful completion.
The governor also sought prayers for the full realisation of the State’s international airport status, as several critical benchmarks must be met to enable Akwa Ibom capture a significant share of the aviation market within the Gulf of Guinea.
The governor who emphasised the importance of spiritual support, used the occasion to announce a special prayer night scheduled to hold on Friday, January 30, 2026, and invited prayer warriors to intercede more fervently for the State.
He cautioned citizens against making disparaging comments about government, but to exercise restraint in their utterances, as that unity, responsible engagement and constructive dialogue remain essential for collective progress.
Eno commended past leaders of the State, acknowledging the fact that every administration made its mark and contributed to Akwa Ibom’s development.
Highlighting the importance of the ongoing ministerial briefings which he described as a vital stock-taking exercise aimed at repositioning the administration for higher performance, Eno praised ministries and departments for their achievements so far and urged them to do more in service to the people.
He expressed appreciation to all attendees of the first prayer service of the year, which he referred to, as both a thanksgiving for the New Year and a reaffirmation of collective faith in God’s guidance for Akwa Ibom.
In his exhortation, the chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Dr. Christian Nyong, spoke on the limitless possibilities of God’s intervention in the affairs of the State and its people, and declared that both the Church and the entire State remain united behind Governor Umo Eno’s administration and the progress recorded so far.
