The Akwa Ibom governor has assured that the remaining nine aircrafts for the Ibom Air fleet would be delivered soon.
Pastor Umo Eno gave the assurance, Tuesday, while fielding questions from the Government House correspondents, shortly on his arrival from the in-flight experience as the new A220-300 Airbus, the first of the 10 new Airbus aircraft with tail number 5N-CDA, acquired by the State-owned airline, made its maiden official flight from the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
Eno assured of the State government’s support to the airline’s aspiration of emerging the West Africa’s premier regional aviation hub, saying, “We’re proud to be Akwa Ibomites. We are the first state in this country to fully own an aircraft, not wet nor dry lease. This is our asset. This is just the first of the 10 that are coming. We will make Uyo a regional aviation hub. It’s been a good and enjoyable experience”.
He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the acquisition of the remaining nine aircrafts by the State government, and expressed satisfaction at the new feat recorded by the State-owned airline, Ibom Air.
The governor, who was satisfied with the flying pleasure offered by the new Airbus, was optimistic that the state would soon become West Africa’s regional aviation hub.
He lauded Captain Mfon Udom led-management team for the outstanding performance of Ibom Air in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Eno described the in-flight experience of the new A220-300 Airbus as top-notch, noting that Akwa Ibom people worldwide and Nigerian air travellers remain proud of Ibom Air.
