Gov Udom Emmanuel has commended the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN), USA, Inc for the cooperation the government is enjoying from the organisation.
Emmanuel stated this over the weekend during the 2022 annual AKISAN, USA, Inc, Fund Raising and Award presentation ceremony in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America (USA).
The governor, who was represented by his wife, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, expressed appreciation for the cooperation existing between the Akwa Ibom community in the USA and the state government which, according to him, has aided in thedevelopment of the state.
Emmanuel then presented gifts to winners of the Mr & Miss Akwa Ibom USA competition, in appreciation of their outstanding performances in upholding the culture and heritage of the state.
On his part, the president of AKISAN, Itoro Akpaniquot, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Emmanuel and indeed the Akwa Ibom government for the continuous support to the organisation through the years and presented an award of appreciation to the governor.
The 2022 AKISAN ceremony was very well attended by Akwa Ibom people from various backgrounds, notable among them, the secretary to the state government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem; state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Uko Udom Esq; the commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong; the commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko; commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr Frank Archibong; commissioner for works and fire service, Professor Eno Ibanga and commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan.
Other top Akwa Ibom personalities at the event included the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno; his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Senator Effiong Bob, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Obong Akan Udofia, Mr. Don Etim, Akparawa Godwin Ntukudeh, Mr. Gabriel Ukpeh, Mr. Okon Okon, Oliver Udokpo, Hon. Akan Tommey and Mrs Mary Ekpenyong, among others.
