Gov Udom Emmanuel has mourned the departure of an outstanding daughter of Akwa Ibom to eternity by the cold hands of death.
The deceased, Mrs. Nsima Francis Obuji, until her exit was an indigene of Essien Udim and daughter to a prominent political leader, Obong Michael Afangide, in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of the state.
Emmanuel demonstrated the sympathy to Afangide during a condolence visit, which took place at Uruk Uso, Ikot Ekpene,Monday.
The governor, accompanied by top government functionaries and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said that the death of Obuji was a shock to the government andpeople of the state, adding that the heartfelt incident has left traumatic experience and a sense of loss to the immediate and the larger members of the family in the state.
Emmanuel stated that, by the exit of Obuji, words of sympathy may be entirely difficult to console the deceased family members, imploring Afangide and his family members not to lose faith in God or raise doubts about divine wills.
He reminded the deceased family members that everything,including birth and death, cannot happen without prior knowledge of God, stressing that human beings are not to blame God for inevitable death.
Emmanuel prayed God to protect the bereaved family from further afflictions and to grant Afangide the courage to bear the loss, noting that the people of Akwa Ibom would continue to identify with the family.
Afangide expressed appreciation to Emmanuel and members of his entourage for the condolence visit, remarking that it was an indication of love and honour to the family.
He mentioned that the larger Afangide family members have derived comfort from the visit, while praying that the loss of similar situation would not befall any of the sympathisers in the state.
