ABAK
As part of activities to commemorate the impactful first anniversary of Golden Initiative For All, GIFA, the coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, Wednesday, paid a visit to the Goodnews Community Humanitarian Foundation, Gospel Village, Abak Local Government Area, where she donated cash and food supplies to the home.
Accompanying Obareki on the visit were the wife of the secretary to state government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency in AKHA, Hon. Selina Ukpatu, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs and social welfare, Mrs. Margaret Edem, Mrs. Imekan Asanga, wife of the chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Mrs Edidiong Inyang, member of the Board of Trustees of GIFA, Mrs Eno Akindutire, among others.
Speaking during the visit, the First Lady designate said the visit was to kick start a line up of events to mark the first anniversary of GIFA, as well as celebrate the posthumous birthday of its founder, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
Obareki explained that it was not difficult to choose the home as one of the visiting points as it was very dear to her mother’s heart, adding, “It was a no brainer for me to come here because my mother so much appreciated the work done here by our daddy, who had gone to be with Lord. I can see that the legacy is being sustained. The children are well fed and happy.
She charged the children at the home to be studious in their academics, respect their guardians, believe in God and their future, as these were the prerequisites to becoming successful in life.
“I am using this opportunity to admonish you all to believe in the validity of your dreams. You can become anything in life if only you honour God and be serious with your studies,” she remarked.
To the director and management of the Gospel Village, Lady Obareki extended her appreciation to them for their steadfast efforts in sustaining and maintaining the standard set by the founder and asked for regular updates to handle challenges as they occur.
While at the Gospel Village, the Akwa Ibom First Lady designate interacted and danced with the children of the foundation, the women and female stakeholders of Abak, who gathered to receive her.
Earlier, the chairman of Abak Local Government Council, Mrs. Ime Charles, while welcoming the First Lady designate to her area, commended her for choosing Abak for the visit, describing it as a golden opportunity to bring relief to the children of the center and restore their hopes for a brighter future.
She expressed gratitude to the coordinators of the home for their dedication and for ensuring a nurturing environment for the children to grow, adding that with hard work and faith in God, they could achieve their dreams.
Also speaking, the wife of the secretary to state government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, emphasised the importance of love, discipline and proper guidance in shaping the children’s future, urging the caregivers to remain steadfast in their noble duty.
While emphasising that God had brought the children to the home for a purpose and that the purpose must be fulfilled, Uwah reminded them that their future is bright, urging them to fully embrace the opportunities ahead, by being studious, obedient and disciplined.
In their vote of thanks, Mrs. Promise Essien, Apostle Samuel Udo and Miss Immanuella Bassey, expressed their appreciation to the State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his unreserved fatherly love toward the home and also appreciated the coordinator, Office of the First Lady, for coming to share in their joy. They prayed God to bless and reward their labour of love to the children.
