FUTIA Announces Automatic Employment For First Class Graduates

The Federal University of Technology, FUTIA, Ikot Abasi Local Government in Akwa Ibom has announced automatic employment for first class graduates of the University at the end of their academic year.
This information was disclosed by the vice chancellor of the University, Professor Leo Daniel, during the 3rd Matriculation ceremony of the University held recently in Ikot Abasi.
Hear him: “Let me announce to all our students that the Governing Council and Management of the University has approved and reserved automatic employment to first class students of the University upon graduation as additional motivation to boast academic excellence and competitiveness. Therefore, the ball is in your courts!”
Daniel, while congratulating the matriculating students, noted that being admitted into the University was a major success-path in their preparation for a future which, he said, is full of possibilities.
  The FUTIA vice chancellor, who is the first Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nigeria, noted further that the reality of the said future is dependent on the students’ commitment to their academic activities and good conduct, assuring the students of commitment on the part of the University’s management to providing them with the best of academic training that will aid equip them for that future they desire and hope for.
He boasted that he was very confident in the intellectual prowess and capacity of the academic and non academic staff of the institution which, he said, will deliver the best for the students.
Daniel went further to appreciate parents, guardians and sponsors of the matriculating students for selecting Federal University of Technology in Ikot Abasi as a channel of investment for their children’s tertiary education, as well as re-echoed the provision of the best academic and character training for their children.
The FUTIA vice chancellor advised the students to avoid all forms of malpractices, cultism and misconducts, as those caught indulging in any form of crime or social vices shall face full disciplinary measures in line with the university’s laws.
Daniel, who is the pioneer vice chancellor of FUTIA, used the occasion to appreciate the commitment of the management team, teaching and non-teaching staff and other members of the university community for their commitment to the promotion of academic excellence, best administrative services and teamwork.
The first professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nigeria used the platform to commend the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, for launching and implementing the Nigerian Education Loan, NELFUND, which has taken financial burden of funding tertiary education from parents and families and tasked the matriculating students to immediately enroll in NELFUND scheme. 
He further acknowledged the roles of other critical stakeholders of the institution, including the Federal Ministry of Education; Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund; Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB; Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND; Akwa Ibom State Government; amongst others, for their contributions to the development of the University and the education sector.
  A goodwill message was received from Akwa Ibom State coordinator of JAMB, Mrs Grace Olima-William, who specially congratulated the vice chancellor, on his well deserved appointment as the chief external examiner of JAMB in Akwa Ibom for year 2026.
Commander of NNS Jubilee, Ikot Abasi, Commodore A. A. Umar, represented by Navy Captain Gabriel Ogbodo, and The Gideon’s International Nigeria, led by Elder Emmanuel Udosen, also presented goodwill messages.
The well attended event had distinguished men and women of the university community, including the bursar, Dr Mbobo Erasmus; University librarian, Professor Philip Akor; Director of Academic Planning, Professor Isaac Ayandele; Acting dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Charity Maxwell; provosts of the six schools; members of the University Senate; 24 heads of departments and units; directors of Directorates; College Secretaries; members of staff; students’ representatives’ Committee; Face of FUTIA for 2024/2025 – Mr FUTIA, King Daniel Umouku and Miss FUTIA, Queen Victoria Nestor; parents; amongst others.
