It’s been a 14,235 days of eventful journey for Akwa Ibom State, since it birthed on September 23, 1987.
Codenamed the “Land of Promise”, this codename wasn’t a fluke. It was and still is, a prophecy – a word into the future.
Today, the word is standing, speaking and yielding fruits; and to such extent that even the blind could ‘see’, through the euphoria in the land, sparked by the strides the state has recorded in the past 39 years.
It is no wonder it is said in the Bible that “They will be like a tree planted by the water, that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit”.
Yes, it is no wonder, that a State, named after God, can not experience otherwise, in the hands of God.
From a state of near nothingness, at inception, to a state of plenty – and still counting; it can only be God. And what with a man of God, at the helm of affairs in the state, at this 39th circle of the State around the Universe, not just complementing the works of his predecessors, but taking it to another level so different, unique and endearing.
Today, we have a servant leader as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, who is bending over backwards, to deliver not only on his campaign promises; but to deliver on the promises of his pastoral calling; and to also deliver on the prophecy of the promise decreed unto the land of Akwa Ibom State, as the Land of Promise.
Now, need anyone wonder his taking the State higher in the skies, with Ibom Air; the stamping of a 350 bed International Hospital in the land; the reviving and standing of Ibom International Convention Center & Hotel; the world class tourism window of the ARISE Palm & Resort; the Security & Command center; the network of over 1,304 kilometers of roads and counting ; the over 40 bridges and counting; the over 1,048 units of housing across the state for the downtrodden, middle class and top echelons of the society; the strides in the power, medical and agricultural sectors; as well as in the human capacity development of the citizenry.
Well, this is just a comment section. The list of the projects of this administration is too numerous to mention. A more comprehensive detail is inside.
Today, as the drum rolls out in celebrating our dear Akwa Ibom State at 39, let’s thank the foregone fathers and mothers of the state, for their vision; the past steerers of the state, for their contributions; and to Gov. Umo Bassey Eno,PhD, for the ongoing sparks of experiencial fulfilment of the promises of the land of Akwa Ibom State.
And to God, be the Glory 🙏
