The immediate past Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, on Wednesday officially handed over to his successor, Mrs. Elsie Anietie Peters.
It came a day after Peters was sworn in by Governor Umo Eno.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, Essien his successor on her appointment and prayed for her success.
His words: “I warmly welcome you to your new office as I officially hand over the office to you today. Let me, once again, congratulate you for your appointment and pray that your successes surpass mine.”
In her response, Peters thanked Eno for finding her worthy to be appointed to the office, pledging her commitment to lead the civil service towards the realisation and implementation of the Governor’s ARISE Agenda.
She acknowledged the “mentorship” role of Essien, thanking him for the smooth handing over.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Ms. Doris Ikpuho, and directors including, Mr. Nsoyo Akai, Mrs. Gladys Phillip and Mrs. Victoria Nta.
