In a bid to strengthening a robust relationship between the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) and the grassroots legislators, the member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency has held an interactive meeting with members of Ibiono Ibom Legislative Council with a charge on them to replicate what Governor Umo Eno is doing in the state at the grassroots.
Mr Moses Essien who gave the charge during an interactive meeting with members of Ibiono Ibom Legislative Council at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Conference Room, Udo Udoma Avenue, recently, emphasised that as legislators, it is their duty to replicate Gov Eno’s developmental strides in the state at the grassroots to justify the essence of emergency as leaders.
Essien stated that legislation is a serious and important business and should be handled as such, adding that as legislators, they are saddled with the responsibility of making laws, representation and oversight and these, they must effectively discharge.
He noted that Gov. Eno came with ARISE Agenda template which has so much to better Ibiono Ibom as a local government and its indigenes, saying that it is incumbent on them to emulate him and as well let the people know what the governor has done for them.
“As Legislative Council, you should replicate what the leader of the state is doing in the grassroots, you must keep the people abreast with what Gov. Eno has done in the area to impact on their lives,” the legislator stressed.
Essien who doubled as chairman, House Committee on Health and chairman, Nutrition And Food Security, disclosed that every bit of what he does in the Assembly was in line with what is contained in the ARISE Agenda of the state government and advised his colleagues at the local level to emulate same by doing things in consonance with the ARISE Agenda.

Eno in Ibiono Ibom to include: Skills acquisition centre located at Ikot Ada Idem, low cost housing units for civil servants at Ikpedip, Grace Estates located in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono, ongoing construction of Idoro Road to Ikot Ada Idem, ongoing construction of the much-talked about Use Ikot Amama Road to link the area with Ikono Local Government Area, ongoing construction of Model Health Centre at Idoro as well as the ongoing construction of Model Primary School at Ikot Ekop.
He hinted that his first motion on the floor of the Assembly on assumption of office was urging state government to implement fully the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Law which the state at the moment has inaugurated a board that is undergoing the registration of the vulnerables, elderly, disabled communities and pregnant women in the state, calling on the chairman, House Committee on Health, to sensitize the people to link up with the health insurance and get them registered to access free health services as Ibiono Ibom people cannot be left out of the exercise.
The chairman House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security also stressed the need for the legislators to fight malnutrition among children in the local communities, saying that the effect of this scourge is detrimental to their intellect, growth and sensitive organs.
