As the remains of late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro were laid to rest at her country home in Ndiya, Ikono Local Government, Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged the bereaved family to be comforted by the impacts and legacies made by the deceased in her service to God and humanity.
Eno stated this in a message of condolence at the funeral service of late Usoro, mother to the deputy governor, Operations, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Lady Emem Usoro, which took place over the weekend at the Federal Government College grounds, Ikot Ekpene.
At the funeral conducted by the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church Inc. Ikot Akpa Ayara Diocese, Ikot Akpa Ayara, Ndiya, Ikono Local Government Area, the governor, represented by his deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, said he received with sadness the news of the passage of Deaconess Eno Usoro, who died at the age of 78 years.
Eno stated that he was aware that until her dead, Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, lived a fulfilled life, anchored on her unwavering faith in God, and abiding Christian values and virtues.
The state chief executive noted that her life was defined by a deep sense of altruism, and empathy towards those who were in contact with her, most especially the vulnerable and less privileged whose lives she impactfuly touched.
The governor said it was the grace of God that He blessed her to see the children, including Lady Emem Usoro, attain a remarkable height of excellence in the banking and financial sector to become the deputy governor (Operations) in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Eno maintained that the late Eno Usoro might have been at the forefront of Emem’s professional growth and accomplishment, noting that such level of encouragement was a reflection and testament to her disciplined, indomitable spirit and passionate dedication to the pursuit of excellence, integrity, character, and hard work she imbued in her children.
He asserted that as the death of a loved one, especially one’s parent, evoked emotionally raging feelings of sadness, grief, and enduring pain, he, on behalf of government and the people of Akwa Ibom, felt her pain and had extended heartfelt condolences to the Usoro family.
Eno prayed that God, in His infinite mercies, grant late Deaconess Eno Usoro eternal rest and also strengthen the family with comfort and peace that came from a life well lived, and gloriously fulfilled.
The chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila in his goodwill message, said the spectacular and befitting burial of the deceased was owed to the massive cordial relationship Emem sharedwith people.
Gbajabiamila stated that the fruit of the apex bank deputy governor had made her to be known, upon which people from all walks of life had come to the funeral to celebrate the passage a woman of inestimable value.
He noted that testimonies about Usoro were glowing, and have enabled him to share that the deceased was not just a woman, but the greatness, humility and passion for success have permeated the family, community, the Church, and the larger society.
Gbajabiamila told sympathisers that Usoro had been celebrated and commiserated with the bereaved family, and prayed that her memory would be a blessing to all those she came across during her life time.
In his exhortation, His Lordship, Bishop Ekwere Ekwere of the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, urged Christians to flee from sin so that they do not perish.
Preaching on the topic: “Everyone must die once, but not everyone shall perish”, Ekwere said God has made provision for salvation by allowing his son Jesus Christ to pay the ultimate price as a ransom sacrifice as recorded in John 3:16.
Ekwere stressed that believing and accepting Jesus as a personal Lord and Saviour, were the only paths to eternal life, noting that although everyone will die, only those who lived righteously will not perish, for it was appointed for all men to die once, and after that judgement. He stated that Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people, and as such Christians must prepare themselves to be safe.
For the deceased, the clergyman, who read from Ecclesiastes 6:3, said whatever a man does, if he does not live a good life, and given a befitting burial, an untimely birth is better than such a person.
Ekwere pointed out that for late Deaconess Eno Usoro, having lived well, accorded a good burial and the glowing testimonies from the church and community, it was the hope that God would grant her soul eternal rest.
