The Akwa Ibom commissioner for education has expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the on-going 2024 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination across the state.
Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, who made this known, recently, while monitoring the conduct of the examination in some schools across the state, said the exercise was well coordinated, pointing out that in all the schools visited students were seen writing their examinations in an orderly manner.
The education boss, who spoke through the director, State Scholarship Board, Mrs. Eme Okodi, commended WAEC state administrators for ensuring proper arrangement of the candidates with a view to forestalling examination malpractices.
Etiebet, however, observed that the high level of conduct exhibited by the students and examiners during examinations, as well as the commitment of students to their studies and the various awards won by the students, teachers of various schools as well as school administrators, were testaments of the impacts of Gov Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda which, she noted, has transformed the educational system in the state.
She urged the students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to lend their supports to Governor Eno’s effort at revamping the education sector of the state for the overall benefit of the people, particularly children.
In their separate responses, the principals of Ikono Ibom Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Ayan Ikono and Community Secondary School, Eka Uruk Eshiet, Mrs.Nse Iyibio and Mr. Emmanuel Ibanga, respectively, expressed delight over the sense of commitment demonstrated by the students while preparing for the examinations and commended the external invigilators for upholding standards and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Some of the schools visited were, Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Oku Ikono; Ikono Ibom Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Ayan Ikono; St. Mary’s Science College, EdieneAbak and The Church of Jesus Christ Comprehensive Secondary School, Atai Otoro; Comprehensive Secondary School, Midim; Community Secondary School, Eka Uruk Eshiet; IkonoAnnang Comprehensive High School, Nkwot Etim Ekang and Northern Annang Comprehensive Secondary School, Utu Etim Ekpo.
