…Military Will Not Fail – Chief of Defence
Elder statesman and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), has tasked all service chiefs to end banditry in the country and cause peace to reign.
This charge was handed down by Danjuma while speaking recently at the Armed Forces Officers Mess in Abuja, during the launch of a book authored by General Solomon Udonwa (rtd), titled Big Boots: Lessons from my Military Service.
Danjuma, who was the chairman of the occasion decried the incessant onslaught by bandits across the nation, attacking people and communities, killing and maiming.
According to him, “No excuse” is enough to not bring to an end the continued insecurity in the land.
According to him, “Number one problem today is insecurity. We must end the pandemic and stop the killings as soon as possible”.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who was at the event as the special guest of honour, assures Nigerians that the military is well positioned and is working tirelessly to restore peace across the country.
“Let me, at least also mention to our distinguished chairman that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is well positioned, is willing, dedicated and committed to ensuring that we restore peace and security in our dear country,” he stated.
We shall not be deterred. There are going to be challenges, yes, but that’s why we’re here. I want to assure you that we have learnt a lot from your record and other very distinguished senior officers that have modeled us all through the years. We cannot afford to fail and we will not fail.”
