The Akwa Ibom governor has charged the Ibibio ethnic group in the State to continuously remain formidable by ensuring unity of purpose.
Pastor Umo Eno, who gave the charge, Thursday, while receiving a delegation of the Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio who were on a courtesy call on him at Government House, Uyo, to present the new head of the socio-cultural organization, Ntisong Pius James Okon, to him, noted that having been widely recognised as the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria, it behooves on the Ibibios to continue to remain formidable by ensuring unity of purpose.
Eno maintained that a united and peaceful Ibibio working in harmony with other ethnic groupings in the State will translate to the overall peace and unity in the State, congratulating the new Ntisong, Ntisong Okon on his successful emergence as the Ntisong IV, and also the Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio for amicably resolving all the lingering issues which were not healthy for the progress of the body.
The governor, who was honoured as Patron of the group, urged Ibibio people to close ranks, eschew individualistic tendencies and continue to work with other ethnic groups in the State to deepen peace, unity and development.
He appreciated the body for honouring him as patron, and assured them and other socio-cultural groups of continued support, while urging them to remain supportive of the ARISE Agenda.
Presenting the Ntisong IV to the governor, the president general of Akwa Ibom Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers and the Oku Ibom Ibibio, HRH Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, said the visit was basically to present the new Ntisong to him.
Etuk intimated the governor about the scheduled 44th anniversary of the body alongside the installation ceremony of the new Ntisong and lauded Eno for his leadership disposition which has engendered peace and unity across the State.
In his remarks, the new Ntisong, Ntisong Okon, appladed the governor for his quality leadership noting that his exemplary leadership is a beacon of vision, humility, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of Akwa Ibom people.
Okon, who was accompanied by the Ntisong III, Obong Essien Ekidem, Mkpisong Godwin Ntukudeh, Mkpisong Tony Okpon, Mkpisong Aloysius Etok, Mkpisong Okon Emah, Mkpisong T. O. Akpan, Atai Imo Essien, Mkpisong Chelly Okoko, Mkpisong Uwem Ekanem, Esq, Atai Edith Etete (Obonganwan), Mkpisong Aniekan Udoh, Mkpisong Nsudoh Nsudoh, Mkpisong Joshua Asuquo, and Mkpisong Ifiok Etuho, observed that Akwa Ibom, under Eno’s stewardship, has witnessed peace, inclusiveness, sustainable development, which reflect the virtues of a leader divinely chosen to uplift both the Ibibio and the State at large.
He stated that Governor Eno’s ability to unify diverse interests and foster collective progress is a testament to the enduring wisdom of the Ibibio forebears, and conferred on him the title of Mkpisong of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio and also appointed him as patron of the body.
