The Coalition Of Democrats (CODE), a pro development and non-partisan socio-political organisation in Akwa Ibom State, unanimously and unequivocally endorsed the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West and Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio; and the governor of Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, respectively, for another well-deserved term in office come 2027.
The group’s endorsements, based on the remarkable strides and achievements of Their Excellencies, was part of the resolutions taken at the enlarged extra-ordinary executive council meeting of the group held recently, at Kiniz Hall, Uyo, to objectively analyse current and critical political matters of good governance in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
In a communique signed by the Chairman, Rt. Hon Usenobong Akpabio and secretary general, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, CODE commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the recent flag-off of the Akwa Ibom section of the coastal highway project amongst others, which it viewed as a welcome development that is in the overall interest of Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians at large, describing it as one of Mr President’s strategic economic reforms that is already setting Nigeria in the path of economic recovery, prosperity and political development.
The organisation appreciated President Tinubu for the numerous appointments of Akwa Ibom indigenes into key positions in his administration, notably the appointment of Rt. Hon. Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, Ph.D, as minister of state (Gas) and acknowledged the role of the senate president in the strategic political placement of Akwa Ibom in Nigeria’s political space.
They unanimously applauded the Senate President and Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South South geopolitical zone, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, for his superlative, purposeful and result-oriented leadership disposition by prioritising the development of Akwa Ibom above personal interest through his collaboration, synergy and total support to the State governor.
CODE commended Governor Umo Bassey Eno, leader of PDP, Akwa Ibom State, for his unfeigned humility and visionary stewardship to the State, his unifying approach to governance thus repositioning the state to achieve more in all areas within the last two years of his administration.
Particularly, they lauded the first of its kind State unity visit to Mr. President at Aso Rock Villa; introduction of the politics of unity amongst the major political parties; timely, bold and genuine objective declaration of total support for the second term of President, Bola Tinubu as well as intentional execution of developmental projects in Akwa Ibom through the ARISE Agenda of his government.

CODE unanimously agreed with Governor Eno’s decision to endorse the second term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President; support Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio GCON for a second term in office, saying this will enhance good governance, unity and political inclusivity within the state.
While reaffirming their willingness to collaborate with other well-meaning individuals and organisations of like-minds, both within and outside the State, for proper consolidation of the ARISE and RENEWED HOPE Agenda, CODE urged senior citizens, political leaders, serving and former legislators, local government chairmen, councillors, traditional rulers, spiritual leaders, organised labour, Diaspora, business and non-indigenous communities, youth, men and women to give maximum support and cooperation to the governor’s quest for support across party lines.
In the true spirit of collaboration, consolidation and unity CODE appealed to Their Excellencies to consider the Delineation of State/Federal constituencies in line with the provision of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, which is long overdue; Expedite action on the actualization of Ibom Deep seaport project; Adequate funding and completion of Calabar/Itu Federal highway; Regularisation and commencement of operation by the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), Ikot Abasi; and Completion of the abandoned Ikot Ekpene/Aba Highway.
