The Akwa Ibom commissioner for culture and tourism has identified the ARISE Park as a place with the potentials to change the tourism game in Akwa Ibom for the better when completed.
Dr Anieti Udofia made this known, recently, when he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on Comfort 95.1FM: Arise Update.
Harping on the topic, “ARISE Agenda: Exploring Akwa Ibom’s Heritage and Tourism Potential,” a show made possible by the State Ministry of Information, Udofia commended the Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his vision of turning a once deserted area into a desirable destination of high value tourism attraction.
He described the ARISE Park as a safe heaven for both leisure seekers, business-minded individuals, and corporate organisations who would like to unwind after pursuing energy-sapping business engagements, adding that the ARISE Park, would cater for such needs considering the features it has been equipped with.
“The ARISE Park is going to be a one-stop shop for tourism enthusiasts, who would visit Akwa Ibom; a place where you would visit and comfortably stay for the next one year.
“We have apartments for lodging, football pitch, golf course, volleyball court, club house for golf players, cafeteria, malls, and lots more. It will be game changer for tourism, and it is a huge one for Akwa Ibom. I really commend the governor for the vision of turning that place into what it is today,” Udofia said.
The commissioner also hinted on plans by his ministry to partner other ministries such as education, information and the Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, to promote the speaking of Akwa Ibom dialect by reintroducing it to be taught in schools.
Udofia called on parents to be intentional about teaching children to speak their dialect, noting that family remains the bedrock of learning.
