In a spontaneous show of appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by staff on his assumption of office, the commissioner for culture and tourism has doubled the birthday largesse of all February-born staff of the Ministry.
Dr. Anieti Udofia made the 100 per cent increment in the staff birthday cash gifts, while celebrating with February-born staff of the Ministry during a Birthday bash organised for them in the Ministry’s foya at Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo.
Udofia, who also prayed and blessed the February-born celebrators, said he was moved to key into the staff birthday celebration because it is geared at giving the staff a sense of belonging which aligns with Maslow hierarchy of human needs.
He expressed appreciation to the permanent secretary for her dedicated service and commitment to duties as demonstrated in holding forth the birthday celebration and thanked the directors for being supportive to the permanent secretary thereby making delivery on the ARISE Agenda as applicable to the tourism sector seamless.
Earlier, in her tone setting, the permanent secretary, Mrs. Grace Akpan, had said the Ministry of Culture and Tourism kicked-off the staff birthday celebration as part of measures geared towards staff motivation for enhanced performance and productivity and thanked the commissioner for sustaining the programme and for also increasing the birthday cash gift.
High points of the event, witnessed by directors in the Ministry, were the cutting of the birthday cake amidst birthday songs and the presentation of the doubled birthday cash gifts to the celebrators by the commissioner.
