The 7th edition of the All Nations Christian Ministry International National Women of Faith Variety Night has ended with a charge for women, irrespective of their status, to express Christ-like love to the downtrodden members of society.
The Akwa Ibom First Lady designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, gave the charge while speaking at the women’s annual event which took placeat the Rehoboth Hall of Royalty Hotel and Recreation Ltd, Eket.
Obareki said this year’s event was organised to honour the tradition of their heroine, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who transited to be with the Lord, stating that the governor did not want the women to feel her absence.
“This year’s event would not have held if not for the fatherly support of our governor who insisted that every initiative of our mother must continue. This is one of the legacies she left behind, and I must let you all know that we will continue to honour her legacy,” the SSA to the governor and coordinator,Office of the First Lady, stated.
She added that the Christmas Season is all about demonstrating the character of the Lord Jesus Christ, who, in loving the world, offered Himself as a sacrifice to salvage mankind from penury.
The First Lady designate who handled the question-and-answer segment of the event, presented cash and wrapper gifts to women with the correct answers as well as those who participated in the “best dressed woman competition,” where the female stakeholders served as judges.
Earlier, in her opening remarks, the national women president of the All Nations Christian Ministry International, Pastor Ime Owoh, stated that the National Women of Faith Variety Night is an annual event dedicated to celebrating church women for their unwavering commitment and contributions to the spiritual growth of the church.
She noted that the 2024 celebration, the 7th since the event’s inception in December 2017, is the first to be presided over by Lady Helen Eno Obareki in her new role as the First Lady designate of the State.
The founder of Gospel Foundation Mission, Bishop Enobong Essien, delivered a brief exhortation on the topic,“Divine Visitation,” drawn from Jeremiah 29: 10-14, where she emphasised that when God visits, every area of one’s life undergoes transformation, as exemplified in the lives of Zacchaeus, Obededom, and Mephibosheth.
In their separate goodwill messages, the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, and the wife of the secretary to the state government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, commended the women’s activities as truly remarkable.
They expressed their gratitude to God for the programme that unites them, highlighting the church’s role in nurturing both the spiritual and physical well-being of its members.
Also, they extended their thanks to the governor for approving the continuation of the programme and to the coordinator of the Office of the First Lady for filling in the gap, and encouraged women to show love and respect to the First Lady designate while also praying for lasting love and unity in 2025 among the women for the greater manifestation of God’s power in the church, community, and families.
The First Lady designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, presented bags of rice, cash gift, and wrappers to the Women of Faith in celebration of the season during the event which featured the cutting of the 7th Anniversary cake, a question-and-answer session, performances by the National Women of Faith Choir, beautiful pageant and various presentations from all the church’s mission fields.
