In line with goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which advocates for clean water and sanitation, the Amici du Amici foundation recently launched a flagship project aimed at promoting hygiene and waste management in public spaces.
As part of the initiative, the foundation recently donated sanitary equipment to the management of Ibom Plaza in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, to aid proper waste management and enhance the cleanliness of the plaza.
Speaking during the outreach event themed ‘wash with Amici,’ a coordinator of the foundation, tony Usenekong, along with other members, emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and the broader society. Usenekong stated that the project, which started at Ibom Plaza, is designed to extend to all Senatorial Districts of the state in a bid to foster a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
In his remarks while receiving the sanitary equipment, the chairman of Ibom plaza, under the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Edidiong Vincent, expressed gratitude to the foundation for their thoughtful gesture. He commended the initiative, noting that it aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s arise agenda, which emphasizes environmental cleanliness across the state.
Similarly, the head of Ibom Plaza’s sanitation department, Comrade Iboro Etim, assured that the equipment would be put to good use to achieve the intended purpose of ensuring a clean and hygienic plaza.
