Yes. All have spoken. The sea, the air, the land and the people, they have all spoken.
From the East, to the West, to the North and to the South, all have spoken.
Three years done and dusted, and it’s already a final before the final.
The remaining 365 days to the 2027 governorship election can only be described as a walkover, in the occupation of the Hilltop Mansion.
Unfettered vision, uncountable projects, unlimited impacts, unimaginable focus, unique initiatives, prudent management, uncommon navigation and manoeuvering, unreserved doggedness, unapologetic convictions, undaunted energy, name it, have all culminated in the uncountable endorsements being witnessed in Akwa Ibom State for the governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD.
Then, the big one; the icing on the cake came on Thursday May 21, 2026. On this day, the people spoke loudly with their votes and caused the governor to join the rare class of governors who secured their party’s ticket for a second term without internal rancour, as he won in all the 329 wards in the state and was returned unopposed in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state.
His smooth emergence has said it all; being a reflection of broad stakeholders support and confidence in his leadership.
So far, the governor’s superlative performance in the development of the state and the people, has thrown confusion into the camps of opposition parties, to the extent that they are having a difficult time considering who, if at all, to field, that will have the capacity to try to match, let alone surpass, the governor’s popularity, acceptance and good governance in the state.
Reasons for the foregoing is not far-fetched.
The governor promised to actualise the realisation of the Ibom Deep Seaport and recently received the project’s comprehensive feasibility report—a professional validation of its viability as a transformative economic asset for Akwa Ibom.
This is a port with a natural depth of 17.5 metres, thus eliminating the need for extensive dredging and can accommodate New Panamax vessels.
With the Phase 1 spaning 505 hectares, with 7.4 kilometres of quay length, it is integrated with the Ibom Industrial City as a Free Trade Zone area.
Now, heard the good news about this port? President Tinubu has approved the certification and compliance processes for five proposed deep seaport projects to reclaim over 70 per cent of Nigerian-bound cargo transported to other African nations in five states, amongst which is the Ibom Deep Seaport. Others are: Badagry Deepsea Port – Lagos State; Olokola Deep Seaport – Ondo State; Bakassi Deep Seaport- Cross River State; and Bonny Deep Seaport – Rivers State.
The sea, having spoken, the governor also promised to consolidate the state’s aviation development. And the air spoke with the recent opening of the state to the world, with the commencement of direct international flights from and to the Victor Attah International Airport (VAIA) in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
This development has transformed the airport from a regional facility into an international gateway with substantial socio-economic benefits.
Let us also not forget the governor’s acceleration of the development of the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the VAIA.
While the air and the sea may have spoken to the extent of the strides being recorded accordingly, the land is speaking volumes.
What with the 1,304 kilometres of roads and 40 bridges in just three years!
What with the numerous and remarkable housing projects initiated by the governor to set new standards for housing infrastructure, redefine community living and showcase inclusivity – from the poor to the privileged, i.e the international markets, youth development centres, Senior Citizens Centre, the ARISE Park, Ibom Tropicana Hotel, Aviation Village, Legislators’ Quarters, Commissioner’s Quarters, Judiciary Quarters, compassionate homes for widows, hospitals and health centre buildings, as well as others too numerous to mention in this comments section.
What with the ARISE Tree Crop Revolution, the CNG station, et al!
Now, the truth is, can all the governor’s projects be captured in a front page commentary write-up? The answer is NO.
So, watch out for a comprehensive listing of the governor’s projects in The Pioneer Newspapers soon.
Congratulations, Your Excellency, the Governor, on the anniversary of Your Third Year in Office.
