The Akwa Ibom government has renewed vows to sustain human capacity development of youths to meet opportunities of the 21st century.
Emmanuel made the renewal of the vow in a message to mark the 2022 International Youth Day, which also took place in the state recently.
The governor, in a statement through the chief press secretary and senior special assistant to the governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, said that the investment of his administration in Akwa Ibomyouths would continue to be in capacity building and other forms of empowerments, adding that the aim was to direct youthful energies to align with opportunities in Information, Communication and Technology, ICT, and other creative strategies.
He remarked that the larger youths of Akwa Ibom havemaintained the needed peace by the internalisation of new mindsets and shown love and fidelity to the ideals of the state, saluting the ingenuity of a student, Master Valour Inyang, for achieving academic excellence of nine alpha grades and 343 scores in the final examination of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, as well as in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examinations respectively.
Emmanuel also congratulated, a secondary school Physics teacher, Mr. Ephraim Inyangudo, who was recently inducted asFellow of Fulbright Teaching Excellent Achievement (TEA) in the United States, through the Inoyo Toro Foundation, enjoining others to emulate and be inspired by the educational achievements of the respective persons in the state.
Emmanuel remarked that the youths of Akwa Ibom are great partners in building rising profiles of the state, the nation and indeed the world, explaining, “You’ve worked with us to maintain peace, shun activities that had dented our image in the past as a land of warm and hospitable people.”
The governor expressed delight that youths of Akwa Ibom have equally brought laurels by applying creativity and the spirit of entrepreneurship to earn a decent living, stressing, I’m always heartened when I receive text messages from young men and women who have tapped into certain sectors of our economy and are achieving successes for growth and financial independence.”
He urged the youths to shun anti-social tendencies, embrace peace and continue to drive the creative keys of opportunities for all ages, noting that the theme of the 2022 youth event, “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for all Ages,”speaks eloquently on what lies ahead for the youths.
The state chief executive officer maintained that his administration would strive to leave a legacy of functional, quality and affordable educational opportunity for children, calling for emphasis on technology and entrepreneurial skills to fast-track development.
