The Akwa Ibom government has re-affirmed its commitment to achieving the objectives of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme as domesticated in the state under Akwa Ibom Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES).
The commissioner for Economic Development and chairman, State Steering Committee of the AK-CARES, Mr Emem Bob, who stated this, Saturday, while receiving a delegation of the Federal CARES Support Unit (FCSU), under the umbrella of Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) in Uyo, said the state government had meticulously implemented the NG-CARES Programme under its AK-CARES arrangement in all the delivery platforms.
Bob, who lauded Gov Umo Eno for instituting the ARISE Agenda which, he noted, was specifically targeted at lifting the vulnerable out of poverty and backwardness, in line with the vision of the NG-CARES, said the governor had since inception of office, given total support toward the implementation of the AK-CARES programme in Akwa Ibom, assuring that the state government will continue to support the programme in order to realize its overall objectives.
Earlier in his speech, the national coordinator of NG-CARES and leader of the delegation, Dr Abdulkarim Obaje, commended Governor Eno for his dedication to social protection and economic resilience as demonstrated through the various policies and programmes so far initiated by his administration.
He added that his team was in the state for advocacy and monitoring of the projects and programmes executed by the state wing of the NG-CARES, called AK-CARES, as well as interface with members of the State Steering Committee of the AK-CARES, Heads of delivery platforms and their staff, as well as some of the beneficiaries from the various platforms.
High point of the 2-day visit was the inspection of some of the AK-CARES projects and programmes so far executed in Akwa Ibom.
