Akwa Ibom government has officially endorsed and approved the hosting of the Niger Delta Festival of Arts and Culture (NIDEFEST), scheduled to take place on October 28 – 31, 2025 in Uyo.
This was confirmed in a letter dated July 21, 2025, and signed by the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anietie Udofia, conveying the Ministry’s full support for the cultural extravaganza that is being organised by PJ Chills and The Crew Limited, a reputable cultural promotion company with a track record of successful events across the region.
Udofia said government recognises the strategic importance of NIDEFEST in promoting unity, cultural heritage, economic empowerment, and tourism within the Niger Delta region and beyond, hinting that “The Niger Delta Festival of Arts and Culture aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda on cultural renaissance and creative economy.
“It presents a unique platform for showcasing the diverse and rich heritage of the Niger Delta people, while positioning Akwa Ibom as a leading cultural and tourism destination,” the statement reads in part.
NIDEFEST 2025 is expected to bring together artists, performers, traditional institutions, creative entrepreneurs, and cultural enthusiasts from across the nine Niger Delta states, while activities will include drama, music, dance, visual arts exhibitions, fashion showcases, cuisine expos, and youth talent contests.
It is expected that the festival will not only foster regional integration and intercultural dialogue, but would boost local businesses, hospitality, and the state’s economy during the four-day period.
On their part, the organizers, PJ Chills and the Crew Limited, expressed gratitude to the state government for the trust and opportunity to bring NIDEFEST to Akwa Ibom.
Preparations are already underway, with organizers promising a vibrant, inclusive, and world-class celebration of Niger Delta identity, talent, and creativity.
