The State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who gave the assurance recently, during a courtesy call on him by the newly constituted Governing Council of the University, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Zubairu Tajo Abdallah, which took place at Government House, Uyo, said the partnership was imperative as the presence of the institution in the State has served the education yearnings of citizens.
Eno, while welcoming the UNIUYO delegation to his office, said he counted it an honour to play host to the Governing Council of the University which, he noted, has produced many outstanding personalities in the country including him, the governor.
He saw the delegation as men of wisdom and people of immeasurable contacts, urging Abdallah to use his contacts to the advantage of the University of Uyo, while also assuring him of peace during his tour of duty and a memorable tenure in the institution.
“Today, I am receiving leaders of my university with a very great joy. University of Uyo has produced so many outstanding personalities in this country, and I believe that one of the crowning moments is that you have produced a governor.

Eno lauded President Bola Tinubu for constituting governing councils for federal universities across the country and congratulated Professor Abdallah on his appointment as Chairman of Council for UNIUYO, urging him to use his far-reaching contacts to promote the institution.
The governor applauded the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, for his integrity and innovativeness which are evident in the confidence he has built in the University and its products.
The Pro-Chancellor, Abdallah, who was on a duty tour to the University, applauded the governor on his landmark achievements in the State which, he observed, has made him stand tall currently, among his contemporaries in the country.
He stated his commitment to furthering the development of the University of Uyo to ensure his Council leaves lasting legacies in the institution, soliciting Eno’s support to help deliver on some projects already identified for pursuance.
The vice chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, thanked the governor for making out time amid his crowded schedule to receive the delegation, and thanked him for the support so far enjoyed by the University, as well as his people-centric policies in the state which is responsible for the stability in the state amid the ongoing nation-wide protests.
