




… Urge Contractors To Ensure Timely Completion Of Ongoing Projects
…Call on Gov Eno To Sanction Erring Contractors.
As Gov Umo Eno recently concluded routine tour of 23 ongoing project sites across the three senatorial districts of the state aimed at ensuring compliance by contractors to specification and timely completion of those projects in the state, the people of Akwa ibom and others resident in the state have applauded the governor for his commitment to ensure the state gets good value for money spent on projects.
The people who made their minds known during a recent survey by Midweek Pioneer, described Gov Eno as a leader who has resolved to leave akwa ibom better than he met it, stressing that his recent determination to go round all the 23 ongoing project sites scattered across the three senatorial districts of the state despite his tight schedule, was a clear indication that he means well for the state and its people.
They lauded the governor for his dedicated to quality job delivery by taking upon himself to go round the project sites, a commitment they noted will bring to an end the era of project abandonment by some contractors.
Obong Ime Gamble, in his remarks poured encomiums on Gov Eno for not only awarding contract for projects to be executed in the state, but for also ensuring routine inspection of the projects.
” I am not surprised that the governor is doing all that he is doing in the state. Given the needed support, there is every indication that Gov Eno will transform akwa ibom beyond imagination. So far, he has shown enormous strength and capacity, and as an active and committed personality, coupled with his achievement and tract records in the private sector, the people of akwa ibom are in for a better deal with Gov Eno as their leader.
” All I want to advise is for him to ensure even spread of development to all parts of the State devoid of party affiliation and to also ensure that everybody is carried along in the scheme of things.
” By so doing, his desire to leave behind a more developed and united akwa ibom would be achieved with ease”, Gamble stated.
Gamble,who is a leading stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress in Nsit Ubium, advised contractors handling projects in the state to ensure strict compliance to contractual agreement if they are to leave behind lasting legacies even as he urged the people of the state to continue to cooperate and support the governor to enable him do more for the state.
Rev Samuel Ufon in his submission, described Gov Eno as an energetic and pragmatic leader who has resolved to change the fortunes if his state and its people for the better.
” Gov Eno has so far proven critics wrong and I am happy that he is leading the state well.
” For a governor to set aside many pressing engagement and within two days, visit 23 project sites is no mean fear. I commend him for this determination to make things work in our state”, Ufon stated.
The cleric called on the governor to sanction all erring contractors to serve as detriment to others, noting that those contractors who do well should also be encouraged by the government.
The head of department Artificial Intelligence in the akwa ibom state polytechnic, ikot osurua, Mr Ubon Obonguko lauded the governor for finding time to ensure adequate check on the contractors, a development he noted will always keep the contractors on their toes and will also ensure timely completion of government projects in the state.
” Gov Eno is a product of the private sector who believes in time and results. The inspection of projects will among other things, prevent wastage of government funds, and this is highly commendable.” Obonguko stated.
Obonguko who also doubles as the head of department of software and web development in the same institution, prayed God to imbue the governor with more strength to carry him all through the duration of his administration expressing optimism that the Eno led administration will take akwa ibom and its people to greater height.
” It is one thing to award contract but it is a different thing all together to always visit the sites to ensure that the contractors are really doing it bidding. This approach by Gov Eno is highly commendable as it will save cost, ensure value for money as well as check sharp practices and abandonment on the part of the contractors,” the polytechnic scholar noted.
Others who also spoke on the governor’s recent tour of the 23 ongoing project sites in the state among them, chief Umoren Silas, Engr Bassey Udosen Mrs Iboro Akang, Suvr Anthony Adausung and Mr Victor Ikot, lauded Gov Eno for taking time to visit the project sites and also see for himself what the contractors are doing, stressing that the development if sustained, will among other things, ensure standard in project execution in the state.
They however appealed to the governor to continue to encourage local contractors in the state, . noting that this is the only way the local content in the state would be improved and made to compete with their counterparts from other states.
