UYO
The state chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party\ (PDP) has rounded off campaigns in the three senatorial districts of the state.
The campaign is part of the state-wide mobilization campaigns towards the 2023 general elections in the country.
Flagging off the campaign which was a prelude to the presidential flag-off early this month in Uyo by PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Udom Emmanuel who set the ball rolling at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium took time out to introduce his incoming successor , Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, the three senatorial candidates of the party: MessrsEmmanuel Enoidem, Ekong Sampson and Aniekan Bassey as well as the 10 federal constituencies candidates and the 26 state assembly candidates.
Presenting his successor, Governor Emmanuel said that his successor in-waiting and the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Umo Eno, has the magic wand to raise the status of the state to a flagship centre that would be referenced by other states in Nigeria and in Africa.
The governor who made the assertion on Thursday October 27, at Unity Park, Uyo, during the Akwa Ibom North District West Senatorial District campaign flag-off and presentation of flags to all candidates contesting the 2023 general elections on the platform of the PDP carpeted naysayers on the leadership acumen of Eno, saying that the choice of his successor, aside being divinely inspired, was predicated on his impeccable track record as a successful private capitalist.
“Watch, this state would turn a reference state for Nigeria and the whole of Africa. He is going to build on the economic foundation that we have laid, and Akwa Ibom State would be on a steady march to economic progress”.
He assured that Pastor Umo Eno will surpass his records in office, stressing that it was a divine principle that his successor must be greater than him, hence his belief in Pastor Umo Eno to fulfil that divine mandate.
While addressing the mammoth crowd in Uyo, the governorship candidate said he would ensure that the people of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District maintains their cosmopolitan composition through entrepreneurship and proliferation of business hubs.
“Uyo is not just the seat of government and the seat of politics. Uyo must become the centre of innovation and commerce”, the PDP governorship candidate stated.
In Ikot Ekpene , Pastor Umo Eno assured the teeming crowd that the raffia city remains the pride of the state and Nigeria because of its envious status as the market city of the South, hence his desire to invest in this potential.
The senatorial district campaigns which kicked off with resplendence in Ikot Ekpene, and waltzed spectacularly through Uyo, terminated in Eket with high-sounding reverberations across Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District and the state at large.
If anyone needed a sign for the 2023 elections in Akwa Ibom, the district rallies have offered more than sufficient evidence. It cannot possibly be clearer. To all our candidates who received the flags today, we say “hearty congratulations”.
For 23 years, the Peoples Democratic Party with its grand political history in Akwa Ibom has overwhelmingly dominated the political turf. It has been unbroken dominance. No other party has a record of being a good second. For next year’s elections, our winning run has never been under threat. Together with our Golden Boy, Pastor Umo Eno, we will win easily, and resoundingly.
There is an established conviction among Akwa Ibom people that the PDP remains the only genuine vehicle to drive both their individual aspirations and collective hopes to realization. The Umo Eno governorship offers even brighter possibilities as it will build on the super-structure of the current administration. The reality of this project has never been in doubt. Not for once.
The Eket event today has answered the 2023 question without further debate. Again, the feather weightiness and vast emptiness of the opposition have been laid bare in full public glare. Across the 12 local government areas, youths, women, elders and stakeholders have all re-affirmed their unwavering faith in the PDP; their preference — and without any other option, remains — Pastor Umo Eno.
As we draw the curtains on this phase of our senatorial district campaigns, the PDP/Umo Eno Campaign Council wishes to express its gratitude to our grand patron, our dear governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his purposeful leadership and services to Akwa Ibom State. We thank our believers, support groups and indeed all Akwa Ibom people for their support and sacrifices. We urge everyone to keep the same energy and zeal burning brightly; for the ship had long left the shore, it is now sailing smoothly towards a successful berth.
