The AkwaIbom State Comptroller of Immigration, Francisa Dashe Dakat, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its doggedness in fighting economic and financial crimes.

She gave the commendation, recently, when she paid a courtesy visit to the Uyo Zonal Commander of the EFCC, ACE Bawa Hamidu Saidu, in his office in Uyo.

According to Dakat, the EFCC has shown tremendous commitment to its mandate of fighting economic and financial crimes and should be encouraged to do more.

“I commend the EFCC for its doggedness in tackling corruption, economic and financial crimes. The EFCC is not after those doing the right thing, EFCC is after those doing the wrong things and so if everybody turns out to do the right thing, we will have a good society,” she said.

Dakat called for stronger synergy between the Immigration Service and EFCC in the area of intelligence sharing and investigation in order to effectively tackle corruption and border security in the state.

In his response, Bawa acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the two agencies and assured the new comptroller of maximum support from the command.

Assuring her of robust synergy and support in terms of intelligence sharing and investigation, he said the command will always respond to her call.

“Our door will always be open to you and your officers and we will always do all we can within the ambit of the law to help. The more we collaborate, the better for the country and, like you rightly said, no agency can succeed alone”, Bawa said.
