In its quest to boosting the economic growth of the State and providing employment opportunities for its citizenry, the Akwa Ibom government is commencing the construction of the Ibom Industrial Park at the Ibom Layout, Itam in Itu Local Government Area, in August.
Recall that the idea of the Ibom Industrial Park was conceived by Obong Victor Attah to serve as an industrial hub in the state, creating employments opportunities for the people of the State.
The Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who announced the commencement of construction Monday, during his visit to the Ibom Industrial Layout by Itam Park, said the decision to construct the park was borne out of his resolve to actualise the vision of the founding fathers that falls in line with the vision of his administration.
Eno said his visit to the site was to enable him see things for himself and how to link what is in the plan put together by the consultant to the physical structure on ground.
He said the project’s development is being handled by a committee led by the secretary to the state government, Prince Enobong Uwah, who is currently overseeing the Ministry of Special Duties, with members drawn from all the ministries which duties are connected to the industrial park.
Eno said the committee will present a comprehensive report on the project on Monday during the Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC) meeting, emphasising his administration’s commitment to realising the vision outlined in his ARISE Agenda, as he remains dedicated to the ongoing development, peace, and unity of the state.
The governor stressed the need to continuously interpret the vision of his administration’s ARISE Agenda, which also entailed working on the Industrial Park embarked upon by the administration of Obong Victor Attah, pointing out that the project when completed is expected to play a crucial role in boosting the state’s economic growth while providing employment opportunities for its residents.
“The outcome is that work will start here in August. I wish you were here with us. I came here today to see for myself the site because all of the time I came here we had to demolish. So I came out here to see how we can link what is in the plan that has been put together by our consultant, to the physical structure on the ground. I always like to do that.
You have seen that we have set up a committee made up of all of the ministries that has something to do here, headed by the secretary to the state government, who is also overseeing the Ministry of Special Duties.
On Monday they will be making a full presentation. I will hold FGPC on Monday. I am trying to approve what will start here. There is need to keep interpreting our ARISE Agenda to vision, and one of it was to work on this industrial Park, get water and power here. Once we do that, we can concentrate development in one area that has been embarked not by my administration but by the administration of Obong Victor Attah.
“For me, everything with all of these things are just to look into it and see how to actualise the vision of our founding fathers that falls in line with our own vision because the vision must also fall in line with what we are doing. That’s why we came here today”.
