Akwa Ibom government has introduced the Treasury Single Accounting (TSA) system, directing that all government revenues generated by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) be paid into the single account.
Pastor Umo Eno, who stated this yesterday, during the special inter-denominational thanksgiving and covenant service, which took place at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, with the theme, “The God of all flesh”, culled from Jeremiah 32:27, said the TSA regime is to enable government consolidate its revenue and ensure that expenditures were run from one source as approved in the 2026 budget.
He said the era of MDAs generating and spending funds outside the TSA was over as there will be consequences for defaulters.
“All government revenue must go into one single account. No more will any ministry generate money and spend. You send to the account, then we can spread the money for the good of all. We have a budget of N1.5 trillion. We need to get funds so that we can execute the budget.
“I commit myself to following that budget but we must all commit ourselves to allow funds to come in. Please, please, do not be tempted and do not believe that we will not know.
“Any ministry or any MDA that generates money and spends, you’re on your own, you’ll face the wrath of the law. Even if you’re my mother, you will face it”, he said.
Eno also announced the termination of dealings with all contractors and consultants of government on any sort of revenue whether on transportation, motor park, airport toll, etc, to be replaced by an inter ministerial committee made up of the commissioners for finance, budget, digital economy, as well as well as the chairman, Akwa Ibom Internal Revenue Service, while all the revenue generating MDAs will form a task force to enable government increase its internally generated revenue.
He recalled that in the past 12 months, his administration has commissioned and delivered 35 life touching projects in the State outside the compassionate homes, while dividends of many other projects that were flagged off, would be seen this year.
The governor thanked the leaders, particularly the political leaders for allowing peace to reign in the State, attributing it to the hallmark of maturity, praying that the atmosphere of peace will continue throughout the year.
Eno, who said the service was an opportunity for the people to thank God for the gift of life as they go into the New Year, celebrated “those that keyed into the vision of thanksgiving and bowing to His supremacy and authority and letting Him know that we owe all we are to him and that without Him leading us as a State we would have been nowhere”.
The chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State chapter, Dr Chris Nyong, in his welcome remarks, thanked the governor on behalf of the church in the State for bringing the people together in thanksgiving to God, and for uniting all sections of the State irrespective of party affiliation.
Nyong, who acknowledged with satisfaction the renaming of the state as “Akwa Ibom united” by the governor, noted that with the peace and unity enjoyed in the State, Akwa Ibom has become a reference point in the country, saying the governor has made the Church proud.
He thanked the political leaders for leading the people well and showing maturity in their leadership, adding that the successes recorded in the State was not because the church prays, but because political leaders key into the expectations of the church, urging them to play politics by the rule rather than heating the polity, as the political season approaches.
Ministering on the theme of the service, “The God of all flesh” with text taken from Jeremiah 32: 27, the guest minister and General Overseer of Eternity Network Int’l, Abuja, Apostle Joshua Selman, said “our exploit in this kingdom for the believer who is in Christ, the degree in which you excel, the degree to which you advance the degree to which you produce results in the kingdom is predicated upon many factors but primarily among them is the dept of your knowledge and understanding of God.
Selman noted that the God of all flesh is the God of all possibilities, the fountain of life and a defining factor, urging Christians to do away with what is not working and look up to the God of all flesh who make things work.
According to him, acknowledging the God of all flesh would impart upon one the spirit of life, cause praise, worship and glory to continuously rise and spring forth from one, thereby pointing men to that great God of all flesh.
The service featured thanksgiving and dance session where different segments in the State, namely, women, men, chairmen of local government councils, state executive council members, legislators (national and state assembly members), Judges, traditional institutions, security agencies, national and state working committees of all political parties, labour unions, permanent secretaries, aides to the governor, socio-cultural groups, councillors, captains of industry, contractors, and the clergy, took their turns to thank God in praises and dance.
