The First Lady designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, on Christmas Day, led some children in an inspiring book reading session, captivating the young audience with ‘The Christmas Story’, authored by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
During the reading session with randomly selected children, Lady Obareki read the book which tells the story of the birth, life and times of Jesus Christ and his love for humanity with accompanying illustrations depicting the rich Nigerian culture.
She also engaged her co-readers in a question-and-answer session on hope and purpose before leading them to Santa’s Grotto, where they received gifts in the spirit of the Yuletide.
The event titled, the “Christmas Unplugged Golden Children’s Festival”, was organised by the First Lady designate on the 2024 Christmas Day and brought together children from the 31 local government areas of the State, children from the Divine Children’s Home, children living with disabilities and children from different clusters, who were at the Christmas Village for a day filled with joy and excitement.
The festival, which was moderated by Uncle Chicco, featured dance competitions where the children participated in different categories according to their ages, with the top three receiving cash prizes. The children were also treated to gifts, food and drinks.
High point of the event was the cutting of the cake, while the First Lady designate personally handed out gifts to the participants, spreading joy and putting smiles on the children’s faces, while also ensuring that every child left the party arena with a treasured memory.
