The recently elected Akwa Ibom community youth executive officers in Lagos have been sworn-in with a charged on them to rise up, get engaged in productive ventures, and build on their skills and talents for a prosperous future.
The charge was unanimously given by Akwa Ibom community leaders and guests at their various remarks during the inauguration ceremony of AKISCOM, Lagos, youth wing executive officers at AKISCOM secretariat, Yaba, Lagos, last Saturday.
Lead adviser and chairman on the occasion, Dr. Edet Ambang, while congratulating the youth officials and describing them as young and energetic, reminded them thatwhat the society expects to hear and see were progressive results, where they would not depend on what government will do for them but how they could encourage themselves.
Ambang, who is also the president, Oron Union, Lagos branch, urged them to also improve on their character, ideas and implement programmes that will benefit all youths in the community in general.
President of Akwa Ibom community, Prince Felix Udoh, while also congratulating the youth officials, pledged the community’s support at all times and called on them to help in community building and development.
In his inaugural speech, youth leader, Comrade Ime Usoro, pledged commitment to service, mostly to harness the physical, social and mental capacity of the 21st century youths with rigorous vocational and infotech training.
The youth leader, who shared his beliefs with a great philosopher, Josie Bisse, who said, “Dreams come in a size too big…..,” said he will deliver accordingly with support, love and co-operation of other executive officers, members and the leadership of the central community.
The youth officers sworn-in were: Comrade Ime Usoro, leader; Mr. Joseph Osom, deputy leader; Mr. Inemesit Udo, general secretary; Mr. Akan Archibong, financial secretary; Mr. Ben Eto, assistant financial secretary; Princess Praise, treasurer; Mr. Kendy Aduak, public relations officer; Mr. Isaac Jackson, welfare officer; Lady Alice Umoh, social secretary and Mr. Maurice Adiaka, provost.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by past and present community leaders, including, Chief Elijah Ifot; Lagos chapter coordinator, Maintain Peace Movement, Otuekong Ubong Jackson; Akwa Ibom governor’s representative in Lagos, Elder Samuel Bassey; president, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Lagos, Elder Samuel Usoro; his counterpart for Eket, Mr. Maurice Ukpong; 2nd vice president of AKISCOM, Lagos, Barr. Silas Udoh, who administered the oath of office; legal adviser, Barr. Ita Umiom; women wing vice president, Mrs. Celestina Uki, among other dignitaries.
