… Calls for Peace in Stubbs Creek
A prominent stakeholder in the Akwa Ibom project, Rt. Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, has officially thrown his weight behind the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Speaking on a wide range of national and subnational issues during a media chat with newsmen in Uyo, Eyiboh declared his support for the trio’s return to office, citing the need for continuity.
He also strongly endorsed Senator Ekong Sampson of Akwa Ibom South and Hon. Okpolupm Etteh of the Eket Federal Constituency, praising their “tremendous performance” in harnessing the reforms of the current administration.
Beyond political endorsements, Eyiboh urged the Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) to prioritize an amicable resolution to the lingering Stubb Creek disputes.
He advised that the matter be “exhaustively dissected” within the State Executive Council, warning that the controversy risks being derailed by individuals with undisclosed ties to companies operating in the area.
Eyiboh called on both executive and legislative representatives to engage constructively with relevant authorities to ensure lasting peace.
Addressing legal matters, Eyiboh made a passionate plea to Governor Umo Eno to “temper justice with mercy” regarding the ongoing prosecution of Princess God’sown Udoito.
The case, The State v. God’sown Monday Udoito (HU/12C/2026), involves alleged defamatory social media posts against the Governor.
While Eyiboh condemned Udoito’s actions as “highly reprehensible,” he expressed confidence that her time in custody has served its corrective purpose.
“Governor Umo Eno is a pastor and a God-fearing man. I am almost certain he is currently reflecting on the matter and considering the option of compassion. Forgiveness brings restoration,” Eyiboh stated.
He noted that the trial faced procedural delays in March following the withdrawal of 18 defence lawyers.
Eyiboh expressed optimism that the Governor, known for his Christian values, would use his office to grant a pardon, reinforcing public confidence through leadership rooted in reconciliation and example.
